What are the Symptoms of Coronavirus (Covid-19)

General description

Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease is a Respiratory illness that can spread from one person to another person. This virus first found in Dec 2019 in Wuhan city, China.

In the year 2003, we found Sars disease and in the year 2012, Mers disease in India both are due to Coronavirus.

But the virus found in this epidemic at Wuhan city in China in the year Dec 2019 is different from that of coronavirus so it is called Novel Coronavirus (Sars Cov-2) or Covid-19

Coronavirus (Covid-19)

What are the Symptoms of Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Viruses are like germs. They are very small infectious particles that live inside of living organisms. They are so small that we can't see from naked eyes.

The virus can't move on its own but they spread easily through touch.

Symptoms of Coronavirus (Covid-19)

The incubation period for Coronavirus is around 2 to 14 days as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Note: Incubation period means "How long it takes for symptoms to appear".
The following symptoms of Covid-19 may appear in 2 to 14 days after exposure.
  • Dry Cough
  • Fever
  • Difficulty in Breathing
  • Sore throat
  • Tiredness
Around 80 to 85 percent of people recover from the symptoms of Coronavirus (Covid-19). More rarely, the disease can be serious and even fatal.

Older people age on or above 65, and people with other medical histories such as Heart disease, kidney disease, asthma or diabetes, maybe on a higher risk of becoming severely ill.

The mortality rate of Coronavirus is very less as compared to others so we do not need to worry but, we need to be careful, and should not panic about Coronavirus (Covid-19).

How Coronavirus Spread

Coronavirus can't move on its own but they easily spread through touch.

Let's say if you have a cold and wipe your running nose with the back of your hand. After that, if you shake the hand with your friend then you can pass the virus to your friends.

There are some other ways also through which viruses can infect us.

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) spreads through droplets of saliva so always advise covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough.

A virus can float and move through the air this is why doctors, teachers, and even our family always advise covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough.

The novel coronavirus is highly infectious, which means it spreads easily from person to person. According to the CDC, the people who have this virus are most infectious when they are showing symptoms of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

There is a possibility that someone who is infected with the coronavirus (Covid-19) can transmit the virus even if they are not showing symptoms.

It again spread from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects.

Mortality Rate

The Mortality rate of Coronavirus is 2%. That means if 100 people got infected with the virus, only 2 persons are likely to die.

In the past we have seen SARS having a mortality rate of 10%Swine flu having a mortality rate of 4.5% and Ebola even more.

So we have faced more deadly viruses in the past and as compared to the others the mortality rate of Coronavirus (Covid-19) is less so do not need to worry.
